Started in 1994. The Wilson House, is an in-house recovery center for the chronic male substance abuser. For many of the residents it’s the last chance in a long string of failed attempts at sobriety. By the time they reach us, most are unemployable and unable to support themselves .New residents do not work, so they may focus on learning about the disease that has destroyed their lives. The two main texts we use are the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions. We believe that the AA program and a working relationship with a Higher Power are essential tom the recovery of the chronic substance abuser. Many residents of the Wilson House have been pulled from the gates of death and are now sober, happy and productive members of their communities.

 The Wilson House currently consists of two houses with seventeen beds and both operating. Their purpose is to serve the homeless adult male chronic substance abuser through the spiritual steps and traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. This environment affords them a safe home to develop skills dealing with relationships and other living opportunities. The program began in 1994 with six men, members of Alcoholics Anonymous, with the intention of helping the hopeless and homeless chronic substance abusers by providing a halfway house. The program would is based on the principles of AA, which had been effective in their individual lives. It would be funded by contributions, not dependent on any one organization.
